“The vision was to take an original home from this established neighbourhood and show how it could be completely transformed,” admits Justin Mauro, President of Renova Homes & Renovations. Located in Collingwood, this mid-century home was razed to its studs with the majority of its frame and foundation in tact. Adding an extension to the rear of the home, which would allow for a larger more impressive kitchen with maximized features and function, the home is now a five-level split that hosts a new and spacious top floor master suite.

accommodating five-bedroom home delivers both impact and presence. “In our efforts to evolve a contemporary design and meld that into the existing structure, we layered windows with flat roof pitches of staggered heights, presenting a clean-lined and angular façade with compelling asymmetrical features,” describes Mauro.

Featuring a deep, pie-shaped lot, Renova took advantage of that depth to extend square footage towards the back and up. “The width of the home was already maximized and it has a beautiful treed lot, which we carefully maintained for added privacy,” adds Mauro. “Collingwood is an older, affluent community with large lots and we took the responsibility of providing a modern version of a family home in keeping with the standards and emerging evolution of this community. Our buyer loved the location given its centrality, mature landscaping, and established schools. It checked all the boxes for them.
