Mar­riott Re­wards, United MileagePlus Team for ‘Re­ward­sPlus’

Mar­riott Re­wards and United MileagePlus have joined forces to create a new loy­alty pro­gram, Re­ward­sPlus.

Un­der the new pro­gram, Mar­riott Re­wards Plat­inum Elite mem­bers will be MileagePlus Premier Sil­ver sta­tus, and United Global Ser­vices, Premier 1K, Premier Plat­inum and Premier Gold mem­bers will be Mar­riott Re­wards Gold Elite sta­tus. The new re­cip­ro­cal agree­ment will be ef­fec­tive start­ing Jan­uary 31, 2014.

Mar­riott’s Gold Elite sta­tus of­fer­ing will in­clude lounge ac­cess at JW Mar­riott, Re­nais­sance ho­tels, Mar­riott ho­tels and the Au­to­graph col­lec­tion, room up­grades when avail­able, com­pli­men­tary high-speed In­ter­net ac­cess, a bonus of 25 per­cent more points on Mar­riott stays, pri­or­ity late check-out and a one-to-one trans­fer rate of MileagePlus miles into Mar­riott Re­wards mem­ber­ship points.

The United Premier Sil­ver sta­tus in­cludes com­pli­men­tary ac­cess to Econ­omy Plus seat­ing, com­pli­men­tary premier up­grades on do­mes­tic flights, premier ac­cess travel ser­vices such as des­ig­nated ticket counter check-in lines, pri­or­ity se­cu­rity lines and pri­or­ity board­ing and bag­gage han­dling, one com­pli­men­tary checked bag and a 25 per­cent bonus on United flights. The new sta­tus will also let mem­bers trans­fer miles into points at a one-to-one rate.
