Mar­riott Ac­quires Delta Ho­tels

Mar­riott In­ter­na­tional has an­nounced the sign­ing of de­fin­i­tive agree­ments to ac­quire the Delta Ho­tels and Re­sorts brand, plus man­age­ment and fran­chise busi­ness from Delta Ho­tels Limited Part­ner­ship, a sub­sidiary of Bri­tish Columbia In­vest­ment Man­age­ment Cor­po­ra­tion for C$168 mil­lion (ap­prox­i­mately $135 mil­lion).

The Delta brand has 38 ho­tels and 10,000 rooms in more than 30 cities across Canada. When com­pleted, the trans­ac­tion will in­crease Mar­riott’s dis­tri­bu­tion in Canada to more than 120 ho­tels and 27,000 rooms, mak­ing Mar­riott the largest full ser­vice ho­tel com­pany in Canada.

The trans­ac­tion is ex­pected to close in the sec­ond quar­ter of 2015.

Hy­att An­nounces Cen­tric, a New Life­style Brand

Hy­att Ho­tels Cor­po­ra­tion has in­tro­duced Hy­att Cen­tric, a new, full ser­vice life­style brand de­signed for busi­ness and leisure trav­el­ers. The launch marks the sixth brand Hy­att has in­tro­duced since 2006.

More than 15 Hy­att Cen­tric lo­ca­tions, com­prised of open and pre­vi­ously an­nounced ho­tels, will de­but this sum­mer in some of the world’s most popular cities, in­clud­ing NewYork, Paris, At­lanta, Chicago and Miami.

Each ho­tel will of­fer a unique take on its lo­ca­tion with art­work, fur­ni­ture, food and bev­er­ages that al­lows guests to get an au­then­tic feel for the des­ti­na­tion. The brand aims to of­fer a sim­ple, wel­com­ing en­vi­ron­ment that de­liv­ers the essen­tials in the eas­i­est, most stream­lined way pos­si­ble. The brand will of­fer a bal­ance of ad­vanced dig­i­tal ca­pa­bil­i­ties com­bined with a knowl­edge­able staff de­liv­er­ing a per­son­al­ized des­ti­na­tion ex­pe­ri­ence.

The 268-room prop­erty, orig­i­nally built in 1889, is lo­cated in the French cap­i­tal’s eighth ar­rondisse­ment, op­po­site the Gare Saint Lazare train sta­tion.

The land­mark ho­tel, which has un­der­gone a $50 mil­lion re­fur­bish­ment, fea­tures 29 suites, an ex­ec­u­tive floor and lounge, sev­eral bars and restau­rants, in­clud­ing Le Grand Sa­lon and Le Pe­tit Bar, a fit­ness cen­ter and meet­ing and con­fer­ence rooms.
