WHAT IS A SUPER APP?
Traditional apps are small programs dedicated to a single function. That means the typical smartphone can easily get cluttered with multiple apps, creating a fragmented digital user experience.
Born out of mobile-first Southeast Asian markets, super apps are “umbrella” apps, portals that can perform many different app functions – share messages, view media, buy groceries, book travel, check a flight and more – all from one intuitive, integrated interface.
Super app leaders include China’s ubiquitous WeChat, Singapore-based Grab and Indonesia’s Go-Jek.
