The Eskimos showed signs in last week’s loss to the Lions but had a short week and turnaround into the dreaded Eastern Time Zone trap. Montreal, meanwhile, suffered a brutal one at the hands of the Stamps and squandered a 24-point lead. Another loss could spell dark days ahead for the crumbling Alouettes dynasty.

Edmonton.

Yes, Calgary is banged up and, yes, their quarterback status is uncertain (again). But if last week proved anything it was that they are a mature bunch which believes they are going to win even when the odds are stacked against them. For Winnipeg, it would be difficult to think Justin Goltz (no matter how admirable a job he did in relief against Toronto) can cook up magic in his first CFL start. Calgary.

Let’s face it, the Tiger-Cats hit rock bottom in last week’s 37-0 outing at Mosaic Stadium. On the other end, the Riders are unstoppable with an accurate Darian Durant, Rob Bagg-2.0, their entire offence (which hasn’t committed a turnover this season), and their defence(take a bow Rey Williams). Will the looming bye-week distraction play a role for the high-flying Riders? Don’t count on it. Saskatchewan.

The hurting Argos have a stiff challenge ahead of them against the dominant Lions with a day-to-day Ricky Ray, an injured Chad Kackert and the sudden departure of Brandon Isaac. The Lions look better every week. Andrew Harrisis impossible to contain and their D is the best in the league. With the extended time to get ready, there’s no question who should take this one. B.C.
