VERSATILE VICTOR
Home features smart spaces
Whether it’s the built-in desk off the kitchen or the open office on the second floor, the Victor model remembers that work doesn’t always end at 5 p.m. And if there’s more to do at home, it’s important to have a functional space to get it done.
The Victor is one of the model options in Homes by Avi’s line of duplexes dubbed Mix and Match. It’s one of the layouts displayed in a show home parade in Walden, which is a master-planned community by Genstar Development Co. in southeast Calgary.
These duplexes have James Hardie concrete siding and asphalt shingles along with a poured front driveway and a gravel parking pad.
At 1,346 square feet, Victor is one of the largest plans in the duplex collection — second only to the 1,424- square- foot Tristan. But beyond measurements, Victor impresses through smart, functional spaces.
At the top of the stairs to the right is a large open office, perfect for unfinished work, studies for an important exam, or even just a place to open a laptop and surf.
This space features a rear-facing window and more than enough room for a desk and large shelving units.
The office shares the second floor with two bedrooms separated by a full bathroom. Its master bedroom faces the front yard and has a walkin closet off one wall and an ensuite off another.
Both bedrooms have large energy efficient windows. And when it comes to green-minded specifications, it doesn’t end there. It includes a 92 per cent high-efficiency furnace, programmable thermostat and an energy efficient 75 gallon hot water tank.
Stairs from the second floor step out to a spacious and stylish openconcept kitchen. The main floor is 640 square feet and with a ninefoot ceiling, it feels even larger.
The kitchen is part of a wall-free orientation that connects with a great room on one side and a dining area on the other. Together, these rooms combine as an appealing space for entertaining.
The focal point of the kitchen is an island with an eye-catching quartz top and sink with an eating bar with seating for three people.
There are stainless steel appli- ances, flat-panel cabinets and a full-height backsplash.
Across from the kitchen is a built-in desk, the perfect place to drop the mail, house keys or for children to finish off homework while parents work on dinner.
The dining area gets plenty of sunshine through wide rear-facing windows.
There’s a half-bathroom off the rear exit, which steps out to a back deck.
