INVITING, EFFICIENT KINGSLEY FIT FOR FAMILY

Colonial-style home shows well in Airdrie’s Southwinds

- ANDREA COX

Mattamy Homes’ Kingsley show home, an attractive colonial-style, two-storey home with front veranda, offers a welcoming respite from a hectic day.

It’s designed specifically to grace a corner home site and shows well from every angle.

The home is one of four new show homes highlighted in Mattamy’s newest community in Airdrie — Southwinds.

It’s a community filled with green space and environmental reserves and upon build out it will be home to almost 1,200 families.

The Kingsley’s interior spaces offer a calm oasis and are wellthought out and well-defined for both entertaining and family living.

The double-car attached garage leads to a cloakroom with a built-in bench, cubbys and hooks so that the kids can dump their backpacks, coats and boots before descending on the pantry to grab an afterschool snack.

The kids can seat themselves at the oversized island in the openconcept kitchen. It is large enough to accommodate a gathering of friends and the gracefully curved eating bar encourages interaction and conversation. Its soft edge juxtaposes with the linear lines of the subway tile backsplash, flat profile cabinetry and warm backdrop of wide-planked, dark grey-toned laminate wood flooring.

A fusion of soft colours swirl through the granite that ices the countertops throughout the home — taupe, cream, grey and black swish together creating movement and playful intent against the interior backdrop of light grey swathed walls.

A sparkling tile pattern strip runs through the centre of the backsplash, adding interest and playing against the swirling pattern running through the granite.

The kitchen flows into a comfortable and inviting great room with a cosy focal fireplace and into an eating nook.

Making daily tasks a snap, the laundry room is on the main floor, adjacent to the back entry way. The kids can pull their sports jerseys out of their bags and toss them directly into the laundry as they walk in the door from practice. No fuss, no muss and no mess.

While the garage and rear entrances are reserved for containing backpacks, boots, school projects and sporting equipment, the front foyer is an elegant and graceful space, perfect for welcoming guests.

The design works with how a family moves and lives through a home.

Upstairs a large bonus room takes centre stage — it’s a bright hangout spot for the entire family. The owners’ suite and two secondary bedrooms extend in a semicircle around its periphery.

The unfinished lower level offers a blank palette for those wanting to create more living space.

The base model of the Kingsley is priced at $412,990 including home, lot and GST but the show home showcases several options and close to $50,000 worth of upgrades.
