OCCUPATION: Co- founder of C3 Associated, an informatio­n technology firm; sold share in firm in 2013 and became Alberta Party leader.

POLITICAL HISTORY: Clark was the media co- ordinator for the Alberta Liberal caucus between 199396 under then- leader Laurence Decore. In 2013, he was elected leader of the Alberta Party. He finished second in the October 2014 byelection in Calgary- Elbow, losing to PC Gordon Dirks.

NAME: Brian Jean

AGE: 52

OCCUPATION: Lawyer and businessma­n

POLITICAL HISTORY: First elected as a federal Conservati­ve MP in 2004, re- elected in 2006, 2008 and 2011. Jean resigned his seat in 2014. He was elected leader of the Wildrose Party on March 28, 2015, and is running in his first provincial election.

AGE: 50 OCCUPATION: Lawyer

POLITICAL HISTORY: First elected as the NDP’s Edmonton- Strathcona MLA in 2008, re- elected in 2012. Notley became leader of Alberta’s New Democratic Party in 2014, taking over the party that her father, Grant Notley, led between 1968- 84.

AGE: 58 OCCUPATION: Lawyer

POLITICAL HISTORY: Ran for the provincial PCs in 1986 but lost. In 2003, Prentice ran for the federal PC leadership and finished second. First elected as a Conservati­ve MP in Calgary in 2004, he was reelected in 2006 and 2008. Prentice served as the federal Indian affairs, industry and environmen­t minister. Last September, he won the Alberta PC leadership and then won a byelection in Calgary- Foothills in October.

AGE: 65 OCCUPATION: Doctor

POLITICAL HISTORY: First elected as a Liberal MLA in 2004, reelected in 2008 and 2012. Swann became leader of Alberta’s Liberal party in 2008 and resigned in 2011, giving way to Raj Sherman. Returned as interim leader in early 2015 after Sherman stepped down.

If we don’t start moving away from this mindless, reactionar­y government and get some serious commitment to a vision for Alberta that’s beyond oil and gas, but includes oil and gas, and stable funding for our education, health care and children’s developmen­t issues, then we’re going to be left in the backwaters of the western world.”
