Man faces multiple charges

-

A Lethbridge man is facing charges after a driver was threatened and struck several times in the head with a weapon Tuesday night.

Police say a couple was parking their car in the 700 block of 5th Street South just before 9: 30 p. m. when they were approached by a man armed with what appeared to be a handgun.

The man ordered the couple out of the car and threatened to shoot them if they failed to comply.

The driver got out and tried to grab the gun and a struggle ensued.

The driver was hit several times in the head before he managed to overpower the man.

Police were called and determined the weapon to be a pellet pistol. Officers also discovered a knife in a bag.

Simon Selby, 22, of Lethbridge, has been charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of a pellet pistol, possession of a knife, and assault causing bodily harm.
