Near tragedy

-

This letter is to the person who hit me with their car on Tuesday afternoon at the corner of 25th Avenue and 4th Street SW. The light was red and the walk sign was on. You tapped me with your car and I nearly fell over. I pushed the car back before you realized what you were doing. I was in shock that someone could be so inattentive. I was also very frightened.

Your only response to me was, “Sorry, I didn’t see you there — I was on my phone.” I hope you realize that if I were smaller, or elderly, disabled, or not quick or strong enough, you would have caused me serious injury and maybe even death. I was too distressed to remember I should have gotten your details in case I am injured in any way.

I doubt you will come forward. However, I hope anyone reading this letter remembers to please pay attention on the road and to only use your phone when the car is parked and turned off. It’s not worth the risk. Jessica White, Calgary
