Venturers bond with nature

-

The Venturers Society celebrates both the beauty of Alberta’s natural environments and the contributions of people with developmental disabilities.

Members of the non- profit organization for adults with developmental disabilities will be selling items they made at the garden show this weekend.

Founded in 1986, the program helps participants get involved in the community.

“We really emphasize community and the relationships that evolve over time,” says Venturers Society director Ed Quiring, noting there are participants who have been with the organization almost from Day 1.

Many of the society’s activities involve volunteering at Alberta parks such as Fish Creek Provincial Park where members install benches, clean trails, gather recyclables and many other projects.

At the garden show, the society will have a native plant garden display with a pollination theme. The display celebrates the contributions made by Venturers Society members, and highlights the places they work.
