WELL PLACED ON THE PARK

Brentwood project opens to move-ins in 2016, convenient to range of shopping and services

When Calgarian Jackson Chaves dropped by Brentwood on the Park, he just wanted to know more about what the new northwest Cal- gary condominium development was all about.

He liked it so much, he ended up buying on the spot.

“As a matter of fact, I went there only to take the information and understand a bit better, and I ended up buying on the same day,” says Chaves, who purchased a onebedroom townhouse at Brentwood on the Park in February.

Chaves, 58, was looking to downsize from his detached northwest Calgary home because he doesn’t need the space any more, as his children are all grown. He’ll be moving in to his new home next February, when the one-bedroom, one-level, 554-square-foot townhouse is finished.

Brentwood on the Park — the fifth and final phase of University City, which is being built by Knightsbridge Custom Homes and Metropia — offers several elements that all added up to what Chaves was looking for.

“First, I really like the location in Brentwood. Second, when I first got to know University City (which features four neighbouring towers), the sales and marketing team showed me the quality of construction of the buildings, the finishing and the appliances, and I was very, very impressed,” says Chaves, an executive working in engineering, procurement and construction for the oil and gas industry.

Chaves also appreciated the service he received from University City’s sales team.

“They are phenomenal, the way I was treated. I was absolutely impressed.”

The area offers a wide range of amenities at the existing Brentwood Village Shopping Centre, which includes Safeway, Co-op, London Drugs, medical and dental offices and many more stores. New retail and services are also being built in University City’s first phase, including a Vietnamese restaurant, Japanese restaurant, fitness centre, massage, nail salon and daycare.

Completion for Brentwood on the Park is anticipated for the end of this year, with move-ins starting in January or February 2016. There are 11 units remaining out of a total of 20.

Brentwood on the Park is suitable for a wide variety of lifestyles, from empty nesters who are downsizing to younger buyers, says Lisa Mundell, vice-president for PMA, the sales and marketing firm for University City.

Three-bedroom and one-bedroom townhomes are available at Brentwood on the Park. The twostorey, two-bedroom townhouses are sold out.

The three-level, three-bedroom units are 1,800 square feet in size on average, complete with a master retreat suite encompassing the entire top floor, with a rolling “barn door” that closes off the bedroom at the stop of the stairs for maximum privacy.

Brentwood on the Park’s 564- square- foot, one- storey, one-bedroom format bungalow townhomes are $ 299,900 plus GST, while the 1,830- squarefoot, three-bedroom, three-storey units start at $649,900 to $749,900 plus GST.

Townhomes feature hardwood floors, granite countertops, and European kitchen with European appliances — wall oven, fridge and cooktop, microwave, hood fan, and black stone sink.

The master ensuite includes tile backsplash, full shower tile surround, stand-alone oval tub, and dual vanities. And the two- and three-bedroom units also include separate his-and-her walk in closets.

Located on Blakiston Drive, Brentwood on the Park overlooks Blakiston Park. Half of the townhome units face the park, while the other half face Blakiston Drive.

Mundell points to the outstanding location as one of the main reasons for buyers to purchase here. In addition to all of the nearby retail, Brentwood on the Park is situated by the Brentwood LRT, on the north side of the University of Calgary, and is within easy access to both the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Foothills Hospital.

“We had a record January in sales for townhouses. I think it’s the location and amenities that are part of this community,” Mundell says.

“You can walk everywhere to get everything you need, which is what makes this site so spectacular for so many people.”
