THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Ebony townhomes bring urban style to a southeast lake community

- ANDREA COX

Calling all nature lovers wanting a sleek urban-style townhome: Ebony townhomes in Calgary’s southeast lake community of Mahogany blends the best of both worlds.

Located just steps from the community’s freshwater lake and surrounded by green space, walking trails and more than 30 hectares of protected wetlands, Jayman Modus’ latest project in Mahogany offers something for every demographic — singles, families, rightsizers and single parents.

The project features a collection of 128, three-storey townhomes, with main floor garages, sleek upscale finishes, terraces and optional den space.

And the architecture tops it all — it’s bold, colourful ( lots of yellow, blue and shades of wine) and uniquely enlivened with fresh use of line and innovative design.

The 1,347-square-foot Esprit II, one of five available models to choose from, delights in so many ways from the quartz countertop and sparkling mosaic tile backsplash to the well-thought out use of space. The slab-on-grade design incorporates a main-floor, two-car garage along with a welcoming front entrance and foyer.

Up a flight of stairs, the sleek living space dazzles with an open-concept design. The kitchen, with its sparkling stainless steel appliances and show-stopping eight-foot-long, granite-clad island, embraces the centre of the floor plan. It’s really designed as the hub of the home.

The living room extends on the east end of the plan and the dining room from the west side of the kitchen. Guests can easily slide through the various spaces; it is a design that works well for entertaining and for creating and serving culinary masterpieces.

On warm summer evenings, guests can mingle on the outdoor terrace, enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail and appetizer.

The inviting look emulates urban chic with wide-planked espressostained laminate flooring, juxtaposed against the backdrop of whitewashed walls tinted ever-so-slightly with a touch of tender grey. Coffee-stained full-height cabinetry and taupe, stone-clad countertop infuse the minimalist esthetic with a warm feel.

The private bedroom spaces fill the third level, where a master suite with ensuite and walk-in closet with window — a lovely feature, adding light and freshness — combines with two secondary bedrooms, a plan that is well-suited to a small family or a new couple starting out.

An upstairs laundry closet adds convenience and excellent use of space.

The Esprit II starts at $337,000 including upgrades and GST. And the best part about the project is that it is complete. The final landscaping is underway and buyers can take possession in as little as 30 days, just in time for the unveiling of Mahogany’s new clubhouse, beach, sport courts and piers.
