Baby Jesus: Various Artists
this weekend- long pop- up exhibit is named for one particularly high- profile person, but the paintings, sculpture and photography by local artists Aaron Sidorenko, Daniel Audet, Karen Klassen, Marcia Jean Harris and a dozen others evoke a diverse range of the ( mortal) human form. “Landscapes and abstracts are dominant in this part of the world,” says Sidorenko, who decided the word “baby” in the title of the show was apropos for his first foray into gallery curation. “I think a lot of people want to decorate rather than have a narrative moment— and some people aren’t so comfortable with the idea of areolas in their living room. But,” he adds, “instead of complaining about the lack of figurative art, we decided to bring it in.” — Jacquie Moore
