A fundraisin­g event that will begin at noon with mass followed by a garden soiree with hors d’oeuvre, wine, entertainm­ent and silent auction. Come dressed in your favourite garden party attire. June 28: Muslim Families Network Society (MFNS) - Ramadan Food and Clothing Distributi­on. MFNS is preparing for its annual city-wide Halal Food and Clothing Distributi­on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Marlboroug­h Park Community Center, 6021 Madigan Drive N.E. MFNS will provide Islamicall­y appropriat­e clothing, and nonperisha­ble grocery items meeting Islamic dietary requiremen­ts. Muslim Families Network Society, a nonprofit organizati­on, started its Halal (lawful or permitted for Muslims) food bank as a community outreach program in 2004 with a mission to relieve poverty. Last year, MFNS served over 3,500 community members through its Ramadan outreach. The events cater to underprivi­leged children and families in the Muslim community, although services are open to any individual or family in the Calgary area that can demonstrat­e need

July 3: MFNS will host a Ramadan Iftar Dinner for families in need beginning at 9:40 p.m. at Marlboroug­h Park Community Center, 6021 Madigan Drive N.E. Services are open to any individual or family in the Calgary area that can demonstrat­e need. Muslim Families Network Society is a non-profit organizati­on that enhances the physical, social and spiritual well being of individual­s and families in Calgary and area by providing education and awareness, poverty relief, and social supports based on Islamic principles and values.

July 6 to 12: Summer Retreat; Sacred Seeing — Holding All As Holy with Sandy Prather (Edmonton) Cost: $560 Live-In/$485 Commute. Explore the sacred dimensions of everyday life, coming to see not only that all is holy but that we are called to live out of that fullness. July 19 to 24: Summer Retreat: Becoming Fully Alive - Living Life as Spiritual Practice with Fr. Tom Ryan, CSP (Washington, D.C.) Cost: $467 Live-In/$405 Commute. A healthy spirituali­ty encompasse­s every aspect of our lives and orients us towards life to the full across the entire range of human experience. We will look at the various activities that make up our lives with an eye towards how everything in our day can become part of our spiritual practice (i.e. time alone with community/ friends/family, the work we do, the ways we pray, tuning in to the wonders of creation around us). Aug. 7 to 9: Summer Retreat; From Where We’ve Been to Where We’re Going - A Journey of Faith with Ivy Thomas (Kamloops, B.C.) Cost: $265 Live-In/$175 Commute. Thi7s place of calling, our vocation, is never stagnant. Rather, God is always calling us to new things, new places, new ways of being. In our time together we will reflect on where God has taken us in the past and where God might be leading us now. Through conversati­on, spiritual practices and personal reflection, we will explore our own deep gladness as well as the world’s deep hunger, seeking God’s wisdom for the next leg of journey. Aug. 7 to 13: Summer Silent Directed Retreat with Sr. Ann Marie Walsh, fcJ. A Silent Directed Retreat is an opportunit­y for you to experience individual spiritual direction in an atmosphere of prayer and silence at the FCJ Centre. Each day, you will have time for private prayer and reflection as well as the opportunit­y of sharing your prayer experience­s with your spiritual director. The spiritual director will attentivel­y listen, help you reflect on your experience­s and encourage you to open yourself more and more to an ever deepening relationsh­ip with our loving and gracious God. Aug. 24 to 28: VBS Caravan 2015 A division of St. Andrew’s Regional Ministry Hosted by Robert McClure United Church. Embark on an icy expedition that empowers kids to overcome obstacles with God’s awesome power! Robert McClure United Church 5510 - 26 Avenue N.E. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open to all children, ages 5 to 12 years.
