Drake Landing in spotlight

- JOSH SKAPIN

Whether it’s a luxurious ensuite, functional kitchen or four-bedroom second level, every floor plan has something that makes it special.

In our Top Sellers series, we look at the bestselling models in an area of a new community in or near Calgary.

COMMUNITY

Drake Landing is a masterplanned community by United Communities on the east end of Okotoks. Now in its 10th phase of development, Drake Landing boasts spacious 42-foot-wide lots for move-up homes along with 34- and 36-foot-wide lots for laned homes.

STERLING HOMES

While the builder’s 2,471-squarefoot Berkshire 2 model has long been a leader for the builder in the community, its new show home the Montego 2 is gaining ground. The 2,377-square-foot Montego 2 is proving to be the right fit for a number of house hunters with its four-bedroom orientation, flex room, walk-through pantry and second floor laundry room, says area manager Yolande Bessette.

“Many of our clients are looking for a four-bedroom floor plan,” says Bessette. “This floor plan features all of the above with a spacious master bedroom, huge walk-in closet and beautiful ensuite.”

But if a four-bedroom has too many spaces to fill, the floor plan can be adjusted, she adds.

“We also have an optional threebedroom floor plan for this model, which features walk-in closets for bedrooms two and three and the laundry room then increases dramatically in size and connects to the master bedroom walk-in closet.”

Buyers can get into this home from $534,000.

PROMINENT HOMES

This builder’s biggest draw at the sales centre is another one that can be explored in person. Winning the hearts of home buyers is the builder’s new show home the 2,450-square-foot Henko. Area manager Corey Cameron credits its “well-thought-out main and upper floor options.”

“You can customize the home to fit the purchaser’s needs and wants, and our unique triple tandem garage where you could easily park a full-sized truck and two SUVs (sport utility vehicles),” says Cameron. But for people with garage needs that exceed the standard offering, this model also allows for an optional four-car tandem garage.

There’s also flexibility when it comes to bedrooms with either a three- or four-bedroom arrangement and a walk-in closet in each. The home also features a spacious main floor den and walk-through mudroom and pantry. This model starts from $550,000.

LIFESTYLE HOMES

No model has kept Lifestyle Homes’ construction crew busier than a laned home in a four-level split with a full-length front veranda. The Bretton is a three-bedroom model that area manager Karen Hill calls “beautifully laid out.”

She says it impressive with an open living and dining area and a towering 12-foot vaulted ceiling that gives the home a sense of arrival.

“The Bretton provides the homeowners with spacious open living areas along with the right amount of separation of the quiet areas, gathering areas and recreational spaces,” Hill says. On the upper level, there’s a master bedroom and ensuite, two generously sized bedrooms and a full bathroom.

“Optional third and fourth levels, accessed by the open area of the main floor dining room, offers an additional 559 square feet and 478 square feet respectively,” says Hill. “A fourth bedroom and full bathroom are available to complete the fourth level of this great family home.” This home starts from $474,000.
