Police charge driver in fatal April rollover

Alcohol, speed and driver distractio­n contribute­d to an April collision that killed two people and seriously injured another, RCMP say.

The driver is now facing 12 criminal charges.

On the evening of April 5, Paramedics from Sundre, Didsbury, Caroline and STARS Air Ambulance responded to a call on Highway 22 near Township Road 340, north of Sundre.

They discovered an extensivel­y damaged pickup truck that had rolled after leaving the highway.

Passengers Perry Vollmer, 57, and Brian Schrader, 65, died at the scene. The front passenger was ejected and she is still recovering in hospital. The female driver of the pickup was unconsciou­s and trapped inside.

RCMP have charged the driver, Jennifer Black, 37, of Sundre, with six counts of alcohol impaired related offences causing death/injury, three counts of dangerous driving causing death/injury, and three counts of criminal negligence causing death/injury. Police have issued a warrant for Black’s arrest
