Young hockey players suited up

-

Hockey Calgary and the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Group on Friday announced a joint initiative to donate $95,000 to outfit each novice team in the city with away association jerseys and socks. Those 130 age-group teams will have the opportunity to sell the Calgary Flames “The Home Team” book, released last fall, to raise funds to help offset costs. The book retails at $15. Each novice team will earn $8 per sale, with $1 going to the Flames’ EvenStrength Program. The EvenStrength Program distributes financial aid for registration fees and equipment through KidSport and the Bill Comrie Equipment Bank to families in need. Since the inception of the program, over $1.2 million has been distributed over 3,800 young hockey players.
