E IS FOR EXQUISITE AND EFFECTIVE

Windows star in corner floor plan at The Gates

- JOSH SKAPIN

Large windows at the show suite for an elegant Quarry Park condo development do three important things. Remington Development Corp. gives potential condo buyers a taste of what’s possible at The Gates with its window-rich corner floor plan Unit E.

The obvious benefit to these win- dows is natural light and lots of it. They also pull in striking views of Quarry Park’s lush greenery, including 36 hectares in parks and pathways. But then there’s size. At 1,040 square feet, this two-bedroom condo has an impressive reach but walking through the unit, these windows make the space feel even larger.

The kitchen and dining area are well-lit thanks to five soaring win- dows, almost floor-to-ceiling in height. It doesn’t end there. More sunshine comes through glass fronts on doors at both access points to the balcony, including a single door across from the kitchen and French doors in the great room. The doors in the great room are also flanked by two tall and skinny windows along with another across the top.

While two- bedroom condos at The Gates start from the $390,000s, there are touches that give the space an even more upscale feel. The spacious balcony is accented by detailing that’s reminiscent of an iron gate on a vintage estate home.

The kitchen is done in an open concept design. Its island has a sink and extended eating bar with seating for three people that face the dining area and great room, making it easy for people in all three spaces to feel connected. Among the features in the kitchen is a stylish full-height backsplash, and stainless steel appliances, including a fridge with French doors and over-the-range microwave.

The dining area is a space that easily accommodates a table for six people but something for larger get-togethers will also fit.

Done in a classic California split orientation, the shared central living space provides separation for the two bedrooms, which are on opposite ends of the floor plan. This gives each bedroom a distinct area to itself and works well for a variety of living arrangements, including downsizers in need of a guest room for visitors.

The master bedroom is just off the great room and has a spacious walk-through closet with white wire shelving that connects to an ensuite. Dual vanities under a fullwidth mirror and a stand-alone shower with glass doors and tile count among the ensuite’s highlights. The secondary bedroom has a large closet and sits a few paces from a full bathroom.
