ENTER A WORLD OF POSSIBILITY

Design elements that inspire are a hallmark of the Henderson

- CLAIRE YOUNG

Morrison Homes has a way of making a show home come to life, to connect a visitor to a lifestyle. So prepare yourself for rounding the corner in the master bedroom and viewing the private retreat area.

You may just decide to have (another) child.

The Henderson show home, open in the new Brookfield Residential community of Symons Gate in the city’s northwest, is a 2,371-square-foot, two-storey and two-car garage home. It has three bedrooms and an upstairs central bonus room.

French doors open off the master bedroom into a smaller space, here serving as an elegant nursery, complete with a chandelier above the crib and an attractive accent of pink-hued art framed in gold. It’s a space that can grow up with a family, graduating into a retreat for parents with a couch or chaise lounge for reading, or even a home office.

From the master bedroom, the master ensuite opens through a central arch, with a soaker tub to the right and a glass-encased shower to the left. A dual sink vanity is central.

To the left and through a door is the walk-through closet, which, in turn, opens to a walk-in storage area and the upstairs laundry room.

The bonus room is next, facing the stairs to the main level.

A study loft is tucked into the intersection of the two secondary bedrooms and main bathroom at the front of the home. This area overlooks the open to below front foyer, with windows and visual space to inspire lofty thoughts.

Another head-turning element to this home is the courtyard deck on the main floor. Situated on the side of the home, this courtyard deck is a private outdoor space. Glass doors slide open from the kitchen, and the space shares a two-way fireplace with the great room. It’s protected from the wind, as it faces the side of the next-door neighbour’s home, extending its seasonal use.

The kitchen is a spacious affair, with a central island and extended eating bar with room for two or three. Stainless steel appliances stand out against the subway tile backsplash — which runs full length behind a chimney-style range hood — and streamlined five-panel cabinetry.

A bulkhead defines the transition into the sunny dining area, with its sliding glass doors onto the deck, and the spacious great room where family and friends can gather next to the fireplace with its eye-catching floor-to-ceiling tiled surround. While the surround and the main level’s flooring appear at first glance to be wood, they are actually tile.

A passage from the corner of the kitchen leads to a small tech desk with a window above, facing a walk-in pantry. This area continues through to the mud room, with access to the two-car garage, a powder room and the front foyer.

The Henderson has some floor plan options that offer flexibility to families of various sizes and preferences — one option puts the bonus room at the front of the house, another option adds a fourth bedroom and moves the upstairs laundry near to the secondary bedrooms.
