Energy efficiency has earned townhomes Built Green Canada’s gold level
Partners Development Group calls Arrive at Evanston its estate townhomes and it doesn’t take long to see why.
On the heels of similar projects in Sky View Ranch and Redstone on the city’s northeast corner, specifications at the Evanston version reach a new bar.
Displaying the uptick in standards at this development are two new show homes, including one in its interior Ivy floor plan. This functional three-storey townhome measures 1,339 square feet and includes a single-car garage with a full-depth driveway.
Its main level is bright, open and works for everything from a low-key evening binge-watching Netflix in the spacious great room to gatherings with friends in the welcoming kitchen and dining area under airy nine-foot ceilings. At 16 feet by 13 feet four inches, the great room’s reach is reminiscent of something from a starter singlefamily home.
The great room and dining area sit side-by-side and a short wall between them defines each as a distinct space. A window in the great room and large sliding glass doors accessing the balcony from the dining area pull in plenty of natural light. All windows are low emissivity, which is a measure of heat loss.
This is one of a variety of energyefficient specifications that have helped the townhomes at Arrive at Evanston earn gold level certification through Built Green Canada.
Other features said to lower monthly utility costs include a heat recovery ventilator, 96 per cent high-efficiency furnace, a 100 per cent efficient electric water heater, and water-saver toilets and faucets.
The kitchen is an L-shaped design with plenty of walk-around room between the island and stove. There’s no shortage of places to chop, dice and season with long stretches of granite counters. The island has an undermount sink with a pull down sprayer and high-arc faucet. Also featured in the kitchen are stainless steel appliances, including an over-the-range microwave, and a tile backsplash. Cabinets have soft-close hardware and come in stained maple, paint grade or textured melamine.
The second floor has two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Both bedrooms have carpets with a cushy eight-pound underlay.
The master bedroom has a sizable walk-in closet next to an ensuite with a shower and tub unit, full-length mirror and elongated toilet with a soft-close lid. The secondary bedroom is staged as a home office.
The townhome also comes with a two-inch faux wood blinds package and one year of free Telus Optik TV and wireless Internet.
