-

November 30, 1957 – Villalago, Italy October 16, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dr. Vic Grossi, a loving and caring husband to Shannon, his wife of twenty- seven years. Vic was born in Villalago, Italy and immigrated to Calgary at the age of two. Like his wife and all three children, he graduated from St. Francis High School in 1975. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s, and PhD in Psychology from the University of Calgary, and Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Vic was a prominent psychologist in Calgary for over twenty- five years. He spent his career at the Calgary Young Offender Center, his private practice with Dr. Alan Mandel, and had a passion for teaching at Athabasca University, St. Mary’s University, and the University of Calgary. Vic had a love for the game of golf, and was a member at The Hamptons Golf Club since the day it first opened. Throughout his life, he enjoyed soccer, squash, a good Italian meal, and trying to grow tomatoes like his dad. He enjoyed escaping winter with his wife Shannon, traveling to warmer climates to share their love of golf together. Vic fought the biggest fight of his life in 2010 when he was diagnosed with lymphoma, but persevered through a year of treatment and was in remission for the last four years of his life. He will always be remembered and missed by his three children, Dr. Matthew Grossi ( Jamie) of Edmonton, Marissa Grossi ( Evan) of Calgary, and Milanna Grossi of Calgary and his faithful canine, Marlee. He is also survived by his mother Berenice Grossi of Calgary; his sister Rita Acton ( Tim) and their daughter Christina of Vancouver; his mother- in- law Myrtle Murphy of Windermere; and many other in- laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Vinicio Grossi; his father- in- law Dennis Murphy, and his niece Sarah Schnell. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church ( Corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive N.W .) on Friday, October 23,2015 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’ s Park Mausoleum. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mc inn is and holloway. com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. In living memory of Vic Grossi, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
