Patricia Leeson passed away on October 18th at her home in Calgary.

She is survived by her husband Carl Sawyer of Edmonton, father John Leeson, brothers Christophe­r and Alistair Leeson of Calgary, sister Kirsty Walker of Orlando and her daughters Laura DiMarzo ( Manoj) of Ottawa, Claire Cordick ( Wes) of Richmond, B. C. and Mariel May ( Sean) of Vancouver as well as her five grandchild­ren: Anna and Kiran Lalu, Noah and Samuel Cordick and Vivienne May.

Patricia grew up in Calgary and went on to study history at UBC and Law at the University of Alberta. She spent 11 years with Alberta Justice and the Ministry of Environmen­t before becoming the Associate Director of Corporate Finance at the Alberta Securities Commission. She then went on to become a partner at Gowling Lafleur Henderson, and most recently Associate General Counsel at Capital Power Corporatio­n.

Patricia had a wonderful sense of adventure. She had a great love for travel and the mountains and could be found trekking everywhere from the Rocky Mountains to the Alps. She was also an accomplish­ed tennis player, having achieved a national ranking in her junior years. In recent years Patricia pursued her love of yoga and completed her first level of yoga teacher training at the Sattva School of Yoga in Edmonton. She also enjoyed cooking and playing classical guitar.

Throughout her life Patricia was always actively involved in the community and her children’s lives. She was involved in everything from being a Brownie Leader to President of the Royal Glenora Club. Recently Patricia was Chair of the Alberta Emerald Foundation and on the board of directors of the Trans Canada Trail Foundation.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Presbyteri­an Church ( 1009 − 15 Avenue S. W., Calgary) on Friday October 23, 2015 at 11: 00 a. m. Anyone so wishing can commemorat­e Patricia by donating to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre or to the Trans Canada Trail Foundation.
