Chestermere celebrates the arts in weekend multi-focus festival
With food, fashion, music and art all wrapped into one festival, Chestermere is the place to be this Friday and Saturday.
The annual Chestermere Arts Days Blank Canvas Event celebrates the city’s diversity.
“This year will be a cultural explosion,” said Nancie Huneault, the city’s event planner.
Friday night’s opening event at Chestermere City Hall and the public library will include food trucks and performances from Korean drummers, opera singers, Chinese lion dancers and folk and jazz musicians.
Tickets are $10 and include a beverage and vouchers to food trucks, and can be purchased online or at the library. It runs from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. On Oct. 1, the whole family can attend free workshops on such creative topics as glass jewelry, painting ceramics, beginner ukulele, shadow puppets and Get Your Boo On.
The workshops are open to all ages but registration is required at chestermere.ca/artsdays.
Saturday’s event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cultural fashion displays highlighting the diversity in the community and an art market will run both Friday and Saturday.
