Q What was your favourite Olympic performance of the summer?

A The swimming was really amazing, I was trying to watch all of Michael Phelps’ races. That was pretty exciting. He’ll be remembered in history so you want to be able to say you were there watching him. How dominating someone can be. Even (Usain) Bolt in running, just how he’s that much better than everyone else. The time difference isn’t even that much. For someone to be just that much better than everyone else ... the Canadian swimmer too, Penny Oleksiak. That was amazing. There were so many amazing things that happened. Q If you could compete in the Olympics, what would be your sport? A I like badminton, to be honest. I used to play badminton in high school in Calgary. I was, like, the city champ in junior high for like two years in doubles. I just love it. It’s a quick sport. You have to have really good hand-eye (co-ordination). Or swimming, too. I think everyone wants to see how they could do, even though I’m not a very good swimmer. Q What was your summer highlight? A It has to probably be getting married. I think my wife would be pretty upset if I didn’t say that. I bought my first house. And signing with the Flames. It was such an amazing summer for me, there were a lot of good things that happened.

Q What is your go-to junk food or cheat meal?

A Oh, that’s easy. It’d have to be chips. Salty chips. Miss Vickie’s. Or Papa John’s The Works pizza. For sure. I love Papa John’s. I would definitely do promotional stuff for Papa John’s.

Q What did you binge watch this summer? A Me and my wife watched

The Bachelorette ... we watched most of those episodes. I’m really not a TV person, but that’s really the only thing I sit down and watch with my wife.

Q Funniest teammate?

A Johnny Boychuk. You wouldn’t think he is, but he’s just so easygoing and has a smile on his face. He just has a funny personality. And, in Buffalo, Nic Deslauriers. He’s pretty funny as well.

Q Who did you have on your wall as a kid?

A Oh, that’s easy. I had an Ed Belfour poster. I shared my room with my brother when I was really young and he had a Joe Nieuwendyk poster. He was a big Joe Nieuwendyk fan. I had Calgary Flames banners all over and jerseys. It was very hockeyoriented. Q Who would you want to take a selfie with? A I’d probably say Kevin Costner or Will Smith or Harrison Ford, someone I kind of grew up watching.
