Enough with this strident policy

Re: “A different angle on parking problem,” Letter, Oct. 11.

I find the ticketing incident at Woodmont Green utterly ludicrous.

Despite assertions that we are a free country, we’re becoming more and more overregulated.

Enforcing myriad bylaws is becoming more costly and I think it’s time to cut those costs.

The parking on Woodmont Green wasn’t an issue until somebody decided to turn it into one, yet the city decided to waste our money bringing down the jackboots on people who had neither endangered anyone nor created a disturbance.

No city employees other than emergency first responders, and maintenance workers addressing infrastructure and weather emergencies, need to be working at 2:30 a.m.

Individual complaints that do not directly involve public safety threats or disturbances of the peace should require some form of non-emergency fee, as we need to conserve costs for genuine crises. Nicole Chaplain-Pearman, Calgary
