If Records & Eggs is the morning after, then the Sled Island Rock Lotto is the night before. A regular fundraising event for the Sled Island festival, the Rock Lotto comes right out of the reality-TV playbook: a bunch of musicians from various bands meet in the morning and are grouped into a bunch of new bands that have 12 hours to write and perform new songs. Needless to say, the format serves up some disasters, but there are moments of greatness as well. In fact, new bands have come out of the random matchups. See for yourself Saturday at the Palomino.
