CLASS

Set at fictional Coal Hill Academy, this spinoff of Doctor Who follows the lives of a group of Sixth Formers (Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins, Vivian Oparah) as they deal with both the mundane challenges of students their age, as well as the more specialized perils that come with time travel. It seems the Doctor’s exploits have stretched thin the walls of space and time, leaving them vulnerable to monsters who want to break through and wreak mayhem on Earth. The series kicks off with back-toback episodes: For Tonight We Might Die and The Coach With the Dragon Tattoo. They are preceded by an Innerspace special on the good doctor. (Space)

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

The fourth new episode of the season is hosted by Tom Hanks, whose latest movie — his third go-round as Robert Langdon in Dan Brown’s Inferno — has been trounced by critics. Hanks has hosted eight times — many longtime fans will remember an outstanding sketch back in 1988 featuring some outtakes from his movie Big. Musical guest is Lady Gaga, who has also hosted the show and will probably appear in some sketches. (NBC, Global)

THE OMEN

A U.S. diplomat and his wife adopt an infant in Rome, then find out he’s the Antichrist, in this 1976 horror classic from Richard Donner that transcends most son-of- Satan titles, thanks to a classy cast headed by Gregory Peck and Lee Remick.
