Symons Gate newest site for The Link sales

- JOSH SKAPIN

Brookfield Residential is bringing its formula for functional, wellconnected townhomes to another sought-after community in Calgary’s northwest.

In late 2015, Brookfield made its first foray into a community not developed by its own land division, launching sales at The Link at Evanston, which is now 58 per cent sold. Quick possession opportunities are now available.

Less than a 10-minute drive away, the builder has followed up with The Link at Symons Gate. Sales open at noon on Saturday, with prices starting in the mid$200,000s. A sales centre is at 55 Sage Bluff Gate N.W.

The pet-friendly development is comprised of 165 townhomes in one, two, and three-storey variations across 24 buildings. Most of the floor plans have nine-foot ceilings.

Its floor plan mix is largely carried over from what’s offered in Evanston, “with tweaks to the design elements and a few (other) options for interiors,” says sales manager Lisa Kaiser. “We are always moving to keep up with the next best thing,” she adds.

There are 10 floor plans ranging from 744 to 1,474 square feet, which are offered in two or three bedroom orientations.

“One of the things that make it stand apart is the parking,” says Kaiser. Every floor plan, except one, has a two-car attached garage.

Standard specifications include a stainless steel appliance package, textured melamine cabinets, and luxury vinyl plank flooring.

Landscaping is another focus. Like its Evanston counterpart, the Symons Gate site gives residents a gathering place with a central courtyard. Kaiser says it’s easy to imagine a block party-like event taking place here, allowing neighbours to connect.

“The nice thing is, by having these two opportunities (Symons Gate and Evanston) in close to each other, you can definitely get an idea of our quality of building, including what the courtyard is going to look like,” Kaiser says.

There are four show homes currently open at the Evanston site, as well. Show homes for the Symons Gate townhomes are slated to open in summer 2017.

The Link name is a nod to the de- velopment’s connectivity. The site has two entrance points and Symons Gate, as a whole, has three.

“It’s all about convenience,” Kaiser says.

From there, the community is within close to major arteries and an assortment of commercial amenities, including Creekside Shopping Centre and Beacon Hill Shopping Centre. Symons Valley Ranch Farmers’ Market is next to the community, as well.

The community also boasts a Home Owners’ Association, central park with playground and picnic areas, and a 1.6 hectare environmental reserve.

Earlier this year, Symons Gate earned the title of New Community of the Year at the Calgary Region SAM (Sales and Marketing) Awards.

It’s also offering duplexes and move- up single- family homes by Brookfield. Morrison Homes, Jayman Built and Albi Luxury by Brookfield Residential are selling in the move-up segment, as well.

The sales centre for The Link at Symons Gate is open noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays and weekends.
