Public system an inferior education

-

Our daughter went to a public school for the first six years, and now we send her to a private school. We are not rich and are taking on some debt to send her there, because the education is superior.

The teachers are excellent, accountable, concerned and communicate with us parents. For sure, there are some excellent teachers in the public system, but those who are not are very difficult to get rid of.

Another thing that is bothersome about the public system is the number of days the students have off. Our child has 30 per cent more classroom hours in her private school compared to the public system.

The public teachers have their hands full and often have to teach to the average or lower student. Educationwise, marks-wise, our daughter is above average and that is because of the school she is attending. More children could excel if they received a better education.

The unions say it’s for the children, but their demands for watered-down reporting, no-zero grading, time off, sick days, higher wages, job security, pensions, and so on, all have a cost.

The unions and government are never about efficiency — the taxpayer will foot the bill.
