FLAMES 4 PANTHERS 2

- — Wes Gilbertson

THREE STARS

G Chad Johnson, Flames:

Was especially solid with his squad showing signs of fatigue in the third. Finished with 36 stops.

LW Matthew Tkachuk, Flames: The rambunctious rookie provided a pair of setups and now tops his team with 30 assists. Impressive stuff, kid.

C Mikael Backlund, Flames:

Scored yet again. His confidence is soaring, and with his skill- set, that’s a scary thought for any opponent.

WORTH NOTING

The Flames’ two-gamesin-two-nights tour of the Sunshine State marked their final back-to-back set of this season … With his first of two assists in Florida, LW Matthew Tkachuk became just the fourth teenager in Flames franchise history to register 40-plus points in their rookie campaign. Robert Reichel (41), Jarome Iginla (50) and Dan Quinn (52) are the others. At his current clip, the 19-year-old Tkachuk could climb to the top of that chart … A fascinating stat from the crew at Elias Sports Bureau on Florida’s ageless wonder, RW Jaromir Jagr: he’s just three points away from equalling Gordie Howe’s mark for most scoresheet mentions after your 40th birthday. Mr. Hockey racked up 267 points in his 40s, while the 45-yearold Jagr has 264 and counting … Now that he’s hit the 100-goal plateau, we should remind you that Flames C Sean Monahan is on the verge of another milestone. The 22-year-old needs two more assists to reach the century mark in that category, too … Now on the seventh stop of his NHL career, Flames RW Kris Versteeg was facing one of his former teams Friday in what marked his 600th appearance at hockey’s highest level. Flames RW Alex Chiasson also reached a nice round number, logging his 300th contest.
