LAST FIVE

Flames @ Blues W 3-2 (OT) @ Predators L 3-1 @ Capitals L 4-2 vs. Kings W 5-2 vs. Stars W 3-1

Avalanche @ Oilers L 4-1 vs. Oilers L 7-4 vs. Blues L 4-2 @ Blackhawks L 6-3 @ Red Wings L 5-1

WHO TO WATCH

Flames: RW Michael Frolik. Logging 20:03 of ice time in Saturday’s 3-2 OT win over the St. Louis Blues, Frolik often doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. He’s regularly in the shadow of his other two linemates, Matthew Tkachuk and Mikael Backlund, who have been grabbing most of the headlines this year. Power play, penalty kill, even strength, you name it — Frolik does it all. With 16 goals and 27 assists in 75 games, Frolik has been one of the most consistent players on the team and sits sixth in Flames scoring.

Avalanche: C Joe Colborne. It’s been a tough road for the former Calgarian, who has only lit the lamp four times and nabbed four assists in 60 games with the Avs. He’s a minus-21 with 32 penalty minutes, too. With the Flames, Colborne was the perennial Peter Maher “Good Guy” award for his all around professionalism and likability. Returning to Calgary should motivate the 27-year-old.

WHAT’S IN THE TANK? Flames: Full Avalanche: Empty

Forwards: Flames. Colorado is averaging a lowly 1.96 goals a game. Defence: Flames. The Avs can’t defend, either. Goaltending: Flames. Brian Elliott is in that groove. Power Play: Flames. But there’s still room for improvement. Penalty Kill: Flames. Colorado allowed backto-back power-play goals against Edmonton in the third period on Saturday. Intangibles: Flames. They’re gearing up for one last push before the playoffs. Overall: Flames. Should be a routine win.

INJURIES

Flames: None. Avalanche: G Semyon Varlamov (hip surgery), D Nikita Zadorov (ankle).
