WHAT THEY SAID

“This has been a real-deal event. It’s a big time deal. It’s a great event that sure looks like it would be great to continue to build on,” said Rick Campbell, head coach of the Grey Cup champion Ottawa Redblacks.

“I think the league took it to a new level here this week of showcasing players. We had the stars in our league and the week ended with these young kids having an event like the CFL Combine,” said Edmonton Eskimos head coach Jason Maas.

“The quality of the event is a great promotion for the league. It’s something that all of us hoped for. It brings a little bit of focus back to football after a long off-season. To have our current stars here and our future stars is good for us. I think we need to do more of this and I’m all for it,” said Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin.

“I’m glad they focused on the players, personally. I think it should be about the players. The best way for the fans to get to know our players is to have an experience with them that is unique. I’m glad we had a nice cross reference of guys. Our league has some stars but I was glad they also brought some guys who put the hard work into it,” said Calgary Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson.
