Bombardier executives incompetent

-

Re: “Compensation for Bombardier execs up by almost 50%,” March 30.

No executive team is worth $20 million per year in salary, so it is with great disgust that I see the executives of Bombardier have been given raises of almost 50 per cent to more than $30 million.

This company has not been able to survive without hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer support, on more than one occasion, so how is it that these executives are considered competent or qualified enough to run the company for any remuneration, let alone tens of millions of dollars?

This seems to be another instance of our political masters taking care of their friends at a huge cost to the taxpayer.

Bombardier bosses put themselves first

In 2008, the U.S. government bailed out the big banks rather than homeowners, and the bankers gave themselves bonuses.

Now it’s 2017.

The Canadian government has bailed out Bombardier and the top executives have given themselves bonuses, while laying off thousands of employees.

These are both events that should never have occurred. When will our governments realize that there needs to be restrictions on how bailout money is used?

And why does an executive deserve a bonus when he makes his budget by reducing staff? A real manager would make his budget without layoffs.

And how is Bombardier going to meet contract deadlines with fewer employees? They already have issues.

What Bombardier needs are new people at the top who are real leaders — people who care about the company, its employees and its customers.

All I see are a bunch of narcissists.
