Lethbridge police respond to overdose call, seize more than $80,000 in drugs

Lethbridge police were called to assist first responders at a suspected overdose call last week when the sight of drugs in the home triggered an investigat­ion that led to the seizure of about $115,000 in drugs and stolen property.

A man and woman were found unresponsi­ve April 13 in a garage in the 1200 block of 9 Ave. north. They were taken to hospital and now face multiple drug traffickin­g and property crime charges.

After securing a search warrant, officers seized 300 oxycodone pills, 356 grams of methamphet­amine, 248 grams of powder cocaine and small quantities of crack cocaine, fentanyl and heroin from the property. The total value of the drugs is about $84,517, police said.

Officers also seized cash proceeds of crime and stolen property including a motorcycle, power tools, space heaters, a fireplace, jewelry, pot lights, flooring, various electronic­s and a guitar. The total estimated value of the stolen property is $30,000.

Padan Ashcroft, 29, of Lethbridge is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, breach of recognizan­ce, two counts of failure to comply with probation, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possession of the proceeds of crime. He is scheduled to appear in court April 20.

Christina Guest, 30, of Lethbridge is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of the proceeds of crime. She remains in hospital and a court date has not yet been scheduled.
