Tough decisions needed on arena
Re: Nenshi and CalgaryNEXT CEO differ on project’s future viability, March 28
I think Ken King is stating the obvious about a new arena. All buildings amortize and, at some point, a new arena is required. Do we really think the Flames will be playing in the Saddledome in 50 years? Think of the Corral.
If other municipalities provide funds for their teams then we must come to the same conclusion.
A new arena must be built and the city must be involved or the Flames must move. It really isn’t a threat — it’s reality.
If the city thinks the Flames are not important to Calgary then make the tough decision and tell them it is time to move.
