Calaway Park kicking off season with new ride and great season pass offer

It’s that time of year— the weather is warming, the kids are getting restless and family attraction­s like Calgary’s Calaway Park are poised to open.

Western Canada’s largest outdoor family amusement park returns to actionMay 20 with a host of new offerings on tap.

As always, the best way to enjoy Calaway Park is to purchase a season’s pass. They are on sale now for just $45.95, a huge saving when you consider a regular one-day admission is $39.95. Season passes will be available until May 23 on the Calaway Park website (calawaypar­k. com) and at Calgary Co-op locations.

In addition to the savings that pass holders get when they visit the park more than once, a pass also gives customers 10 per cent off at select restaurant­s and shops within the park, and access to the new park sneak peek event onMay 14.

This season brings some surprises for longtime patrons. Visitors will be able to explore a refreshed foodie experience at the Carousel Kitchen, a new film called

at Cinemagic 3D, the addition of the new Dragon Drop game, a brand new ride called Dizzy Dragons, and a roving robotic adventurer named Maxx.

“Maxx and his kid inventor will be roaming the streets of Calaway Park all summer long,” says BobWilliam­s, Calaway Park’s general manager. “Our guests will be able to talk toMaxx and engage with him, which is really exciting for everyone. Just imagine being a kid and discoverin­g a six-foot robot on the pathways of Calaway Park!”

A couple of new performanc­es by Calaway Live will also debut.

showcases some of music’s iconic songs, giving children and parents alike an opportunit­y to sing along. In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, commemorat­es all that it means to be Canadian in 2017. Both shows will debut on June 30 at Calaway’s Celebratio­n Square Stage. Williams says that it was important for the Park to do something special to mark the country’s birthday.
