Local firms in awards spotlight
Three Calgary homebuilders and two renovators were in the spotlight at a national competition recognizing the top performances in the residential industry.
Homes by Dream, Alloy Homes, Kon-strux Developments, Ultimate Renovations and Brookfield Residential all picked up honours at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association 2017 National Awards of Housing Excellence. Winners were announced in St. John’s, N.L., on Friday.
“Our award winners represent the best of the best in new homes, home renovations, community development and marketing across Canada, and the housing industry takes great pride in their accomplishments,” CHBA president Eric DenOuden says.
The top awards at the competition went to Adera Development Corp. and Concert Properties, both from Vancouver, winning the design excellence award and marketing excellence award, respectively. Lucchetta Homes, of Welland, Ont. picked up the community development award for the Residences at Hunters Pointe.
Alloy Homes and Homes by Dream each earned trophies in the new home awards segment of the competition. Homes by Dream won in the category of detached homes, production 2,201 to 2,500 square feet, with its submission Arrival Collection 30i. Alloy’s win was for attached homes 1,500 square feet and over with its Kensington Townhome entry.
Companies in the Calgary area had more than a third of the finalists in new home categories, capturing 26 of 68 positions.
In the renovation class, Calgary’s Kon- strux Developments and Ultimate Renovations landed two awards apiece.
Kon-strux’s entry dubbed Suburban Stunner: Kitchen topped the kitchen renovation category for $50,000 to $100,000, and its Split- Level Splendour: Whole House submission won for whole house $100,000 to $250,000.
Ultimate Renovations won the bathroom renovation category and for whole house $500,001 to $1 million with its Lake Bonavista Ensuite and Lake Bonavista Renovation entries, respectively.
For marketing awards, Brookfield Residential was the sole winner from Calgary. It earned interior decorating honours with its entry for the Lavello 2 in Legacy.
