Calgary golfer finds seventh heaven

Seven is, indeed, a lucky number for Warren Martz. He notched his seventh career hole-in-one on No. 7 at Turner Valley, covering 145 yards with a 9-iron to add another ace to his collection.

If you heard hootin’ and hollerin’ at Boulder Creek, there are a few sharpshooters on the list of possible suspects.

John Layden aced the 139-yard second test with an outstanding 8-iron, while Ernie Lorenz also had an 8-iron in hand for his pin-seeker on No. 5 from 123 yards out.

Brenda Pantilag didn’t require a putter on the 119-yard eighth at Boulder Creek, instead finding the flag with a five-hybrid.

Mario Marasco mastered the sixth hole at the rebranded Winston Golf Club, completing the task with one smack of a 6-iron from 142 yards out.

Dennis Vlismas picked a perfect line with a pitching wedge on No. 12 at Shaganappi Point, which measures 107 yards.

Linda Simonson thumped a 5-wood on the seventh hole at Douglasdale and her aim was outstanding from 113 yards away.

Luke Timmerye was Lucky Luke on the second hole of McCall Lake’s Par3 loop. Pitching wedge was his weapon of choice for the 122-yard challenge.

Mike Sweett was oneand-done on No. 3 on Highwood’s Heritage layout, spot-on with a 7-iron from the 158-yard blocks.

Kim Bessette watched from 183 yards away as his tee shot — hit with a flawless 4-iron — found the target on the seventh hole at the Elbow Nine at Elbow Springs.

And finally, Cal MacFarlane made short work of the eighth hole on the Raven Course at Priddis Greens, nailing the target with a 7-iron from 160 yards out.
