Other side of the coin on composting

Re: Green cart a feast for vermin, June 16

Like the letter writer on June 16, I received my illustrious green cart from the city.

Unlike the letter writer, I wanted mine and filled it with yard trimmings within an hour.

Old raspberry canes and small branches don’t compost quickly in backyard bins, but will at a professional compost facility.

The writer uses a backyard composter and was concerned that the green cart will attract vermin.

I have field mice in my compost every year because it’s not a sealed unit like the green cart.

My green cart is full; my blue cart is full; my black cart is never full.

I salute the city.

It’s working.
