2,315-square-foot single-family residence offers abundance of space for a growing brood
When deciding on a home for a growing family, it’s important to look at the ways it will make sense down the road.
One of the keys to a floor plan that will stand the test of time is the size of the children’s bedrooms. Do these spaces have the dimensions to not only take them through elementary school, but their teen years, as well?
This is part of what makes the Tofino 2 by Shane Homes a home for the long-haul. The 2,315-squarefoot model with a front-attached two car garage is displayed as a show home in the Airdrie community of Midtown. Developed by Wenzel Developments in partnership with Apex Land, Midtown is located centrally on the west side of Airdrie.
The home has three bedrooms, with both secondary bedrooms thoughtfully sized. One is 13 feet 11 inches by 10 feet 10 inches, and the other is 12 feet nine inches by 10 feet nine inches.
The larger of the two has windows that overlook the front yard.
Along with having space to meet the needs of children of various ages, they have the accessories, too. The show home displays all bedrooms with a walk-in closet.
Both bedrooms open to a full bathroom and IT station featuring a built-in desk. This is an ideal space for polishing off homework before turning in for the night.
As a whole, the second level is designed with a winged effect. The central bonus room is a buffer between the children’s bedrooms and shared space on one end and the master bedroom on the other.
A free-standing wall facing the hallway provides two access points to the bonus room. It’s also a few steps from an open-to-below feature that overlooks a sitting area just off the foyer.
The master bedroom’s rectangle-shaped walk-in closet is substantial, and its ensuite is a luxurious retreat. Dual vanities flank a makeup desk under full-length mirror. This sits across from a free-standing shower and deep soaker nestled under two side-by-side windows in the corner.
Just off the master bedroom, there’s a large laundry area with a front-load washer and dryer.
One the main floor, the home continues its consideration for functional work spaces. There’s a centrally located office space with a large built-in desk that has seating for two people. When in need of quiet, two sliding doors let the people using it feel tucked away from the busier parts of the main floor.

The kitchen’s island has a sink and extended eating bar that seats two people. Elegant pendant lighting hangs above it. It also features a fullheight tile backsplash and stainless steel appliances.
