Save environmen­t before it’s too late

It’s interestin­g that Preston Manning acknowledg­es that environmen­tal conservati­on has been treated as an “addon” by industry and previous government­s. To appeal to the single largest bloc of voters, the conservati­ves have to change that position.

Mr. Manning, industry, politician­s and fellow citizens, please change your perspectiv­e. We need to protect the environmen­t in order to maintain livability on our planet!

When I was a child in the ’70s, I recall that many rivers in Germany didn’t have any fish because they were used as sewage lines to transport our waste to the oceans. It took many years and a huge amount of money to fix that. Please don’t repeat the mistakes of other countries. Future generation­s will have to pay for it if we do so. Gunter Sammet, Calgary
