Daryl (Doc) Seaman

Occupation: RCAF pilot, businessman, philanthropist
Contribution: After flying 82 combat missions during the Second World War, Doc Seaman worked in the oil industry with his brothers, Don and B.J., turning Bow Valley Industries into a global giant. Seaman was part of the group that brought the Atlanta Flames to Calgary in 1980. He was a large funder of minor hockey pursuits across the country and the Seaman Stadium in Okotoks carries his family name. Doc’s philanthropic endeavours included a $5-million donation to establish the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology and a $117-million gift to the Calgary Foundation.
