Arizona Coyotes part ways with Doan

-

The Arizona Coyotes are moving on from Shane Doan, their longtime captain and franchise face. Team owner Andrew Barroway said the Coyotes would not offer Doan a contract for next season. Doan, who turns 41 in October, had only six goals and 27 points last season, his least productive campaign in almost two decades. Doan was drafted seventh overall by the then-Winnipeg Jets in 1995. The Alberta native joined the club at 19 and played every one of his 21 NHL seasons with the franchise, which moved to Phoenix in 1996. Doan, who ranks as the Coyotes’ all-time leader in goals (402), assists (570) and points (972), will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
