FUNCTIONAL WESTFIELD II FIT FOR FAMILY EVOLUTION

Trico Homes model in Evanston suits the needs of many stages of life

- JOSH SKAPIN

When it’s time to move from their starter home to something more spacious, many families want something that will last them long-term.

They look for spaces and home design that will not only work well for four or five years, but give them what they need through many stages of life.

An example is the well-rounded Westfield II by Trico Homes. It’s a 2,224 front-drive single-family model displayed as a show home in Evanston.

Master- planned by Qualico Communities, Evanston is a community in northwest Calgary’s Symons Valley corridor with schools and shopping. The current phase of the community is within a quick drive to Evanston Towne Centre, a commercial hub anchored by a Sobeys grocery store.

As a whole, Evanston is also near large retail developments, including Beacon Hill Shopping Centre and Creekside Shopping Centre.

The Westfield II has three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms above grade, and in the show home, there’s a fourth bedroom in the developed basement.

With the secondary bedrooms, the children in the family have room to grow. They’re all generously sized, with the largest stretching 13 feet one inch by 10 feet two inches along the front of the second level. Well-positioned for the growing wardrobes of teen- agers, this bedroom and the one in the basement have a walk-in closet.

On the second floor, the two secondary bedrooms flank a full bathroom. The bathroom has dual vanities and a larger-than-average counter space.

The secondary bedrooms face a bonus room with a tray-style ceiling feature that sits next to stairs to the main floor.

For the master bedroom, located along the back on the second floor, convenience is key. Its ensuite links to a large walk-in closet that then connects to the laundry room.

This puts the walk with a clean basket of laundry to the shelves and hangers in the closet just a few steps away.

In the ensuite, dual vanities sit under a full-width mirror and adjacent to a deep soaker tub. There’s a stand-alone shower with an elegant waterfall tile design, as well.

On the main level, both the front foyer and mud room are substantial. The mud room can be accessed through the walk-through kitchen pantry, creating a quick and direct path for unloading groceries after a trip to the supermarket.

Formatted in a functional Lshape, the kitchen opens to the rear-facing dining area and great room. It has an island with a sink and extended eating bar.

Along with the bedroom, the basement has a full bathroom, and a rec room with a walk-up wet bar.
