KEEPING AN EYE ON THE PRIZE

Tickets on sale for Kinsmen Lotto

- JOSH SKAPIN

Two homes by Homes by Avi are the top prizes in a lottery that will benefit the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Tickets are now on sale for the Kinsmen Lotto for the Alberta Children’s Hospital, where the first grand prize is a $900,000 front-drive single-family model in northwest Calgary packaged with $15,000 in cash, and the second grand prize is a street town in the city’s northeast worth $509,900, with $10,000 in cash.

Both homes are fully furnished, professionally decorated and landscaped.

Other prizes in the lottery include vehicles, vacations, cash and technology.

Featured as the first grand prize, the Yorkshire is a home with 3,340 square feet of developed space and a two-car front-attached garage in Tesoro in Tuscany. And it’s designed to fit large families, with six bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.

This includes four bedrooms on the top floor and two in the devel- oped basement.

On the design theme, the builder went with a Scandinavian vibe, says Julie Punter, manager of show home selections and presentation for Homes by Avi.

“We kept everything fairly light and neutral in the decor,” she says. However, green from the use of cacti in art and accessories, is a common thread throughout.

Punter calls the main floor to the home “very open” and says it “allows for a lot of entertaining.”

The street town is in Savanna in Saddle Ridge, a new community by Genstar Development Co. While street towns are part of a multifamily development, the owner of the unit also owns and is responsible for the exterior of their home and the land it sits on. As a result, there are no condo fees.

This street town is the builder’s 2,129-square-foot Ivan model. Including its developed basement, it has four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.

It comes with a double-car detached garage, as well.

On the main floor, it features a central kitchen that divides the front-facing living room or flex room from the family room and dining area along the back.

On the second floor, there’s a 13foot-three-inch-by-13-foot-nineinch master bedroom, two secondary bedrooms, a full bathroom and laundry room. The developed basement includes the fourth bedroom, an additional bathroom, and rec area.

“We made it with a bit more of a Bohemian feel,” Punter says. “Very black and white. Simple and clean.”

Both homes are open to be toured between 2 and 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. The first grand prize is at 95 Tuscany Ridge Manor N.W., and the second grand prize is on 31 Savanna Street N.E. The early bird deadline is Aug. 6 and the final ticket deadline is Aug. 27.

Tickets can be purchased online at homelotto.com or by mail or phone. Mail and photo ordering details are available on the site.

Single tickets are available for $50, or buyers can get three for $100, eight for $200, or 16 for $300.
