Police ID homicide victim as son faces charges

Authoritie­s have now officially identified the victim in the domestic homicide of a Calgary father, whose body was discovered at an Okotoks constructi­on site Monday.

The remains of Mohamed Jasim Al Aalak, 53, were discovered Monday at the site near the gates of an Okotoks golf course.

Police believe he died following a violent altercatio­n at a home belonging to his son in the community of Acadia.

Zaineddin Al Aalak was charged earlier this week with second-degree murder and with committing an indignity to a body.

The 21-year-old made a brief court appearance Thursday, where the case was put over for another month.
