Apartment-style condos big draw in southeast Calgary

Construction on second of six buildings to begin at Walden Place development

Shovels are back in the ground at the site for a new multi-family development in southeast Calgary.

Earlier in July, Cardel Lifestyles broke ground on construction for the second of six apartment-style condo buildings at Walden Place. The development plan includes 40 townhomes, as well.

“We’ve been busy,” says Brad Logel, area sales manager. “We’ve had a lot of visitors, and we keep getting a lot of returns.”

Market research and advisory firm Urban Analytics says Walden Place was one of the top-selling wood-frame condo developments in Calgary over the second quarter of its recording period, which is April 1 through the end of May 2017, the most current data available.

Like the first building, the building under construction is planned for 83 apartment-style condos. It’s now 50 per cent sold, and prices start from $154,900, before tax. In the first building, there are three spec units remaining.

The first building will offer possessions this summer and the second building in spring-summer 2018.

“We’re under construction. We’ve helped a lot of people, but because it’s a fairly large building, I’ve still got a great selection,” Logel says.

There are seven show suites on display at Walden Place, all of which are available in the second building at Walden Place. In total, the development boasts 11 floor plans, ranging from 544 to 1,021 square feet.
