Calgary police are asking for public assistance in locating a man and vehicle linked to two sexual assaults.

The first incident occurred Aug. 8 at about 10:30 p.m., when a man in a truck approached a 19-year-old woman in the 3800 block of 17th Avenue S.E. to offer her a ride. She accepted and was driven east of the city limits where she was sexually assaulted. The woman was able to get away and ran to a nearby car for assistance.

Investigators are asking the victim to contact police.

The man is believed to have returned to the area of 36th Street and 16th Avenue S.E. around 11:50 p.m. and approached a second woman in her 30s. The man offered her a ride, which she declined, and the man then attempted to force her into his truck.

The woman was able to escape thanks to the help of a passerby who was driving past and offered assistance.

The truck is described as a black, two-door, older-style pickup and may have a rack along the rear window. It may also have tools in the bed of the truck along with coveralls and a diamond- or hexagonshaped silver ashtray inside the cab.

The man is described as Caucasian, middle age, with blond, shoulder-length hair and a goatee. He smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to contact them at 403-266-1234.
