Saturday: AJJ The folk punk band was formerly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad. They realized, as non-Muslims, that the name was disrespectful; also, they no longer want to be associated with the “odious” Andrew Jackson. They come playing tunes from People Who Can Eat People Are The Luckiest People in the World for the album’s 10th anniversary. At The Palomino, 109 7th Ave. S.W. Shows at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sold out. Saturday: Justin Martin with Smalltown DJs The house DJ, one of the first releases from San Francisco’s Dirtybird records, survived a scare in January when someone stole a USB that had unreleased material on it from a show. The thief returned it after the search went viral. At The Hifi Club, 219 10th Ave. S.W. Doors, 9 p.m. $27. TF.

Wednesday: Against Me!, Bleached, and The Dirty Nil

Transitioning in 2012 cost Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace a lot personally—her marriage, friends, bandmates—but, professionally, the band has found new fans. 2014’s Transgender Dysphoria Blues was the band’s highest charting album. At Marquee Beer Market & Stage, 4630 Macleod Tr. S. 7 p.m. $27.50. TF.

Wednesday: The Esteban Herrera Quartet

Herrera is an import to Calgary’s jazz scene, coming to the city after a 20-year career in Mexico. Fellow imports Oliver Miguel, from Chile, and Luis Tovar, Venezuela, join him on stage. Local Lisa Jacobs rounds out the quartet. At Cliff Bungalow-Mission Centre, 2201 Cliff St. S.W. Doors, 7:30 p.m. $15. janmuldersounds.com.

Thursday: Jay Arner, Heavydive, and Carbolizer

Arner played all the parts on his self-titled debut; for his follow-up released last year, Jay II, the indie-pop rocker added in touring bandmate Jessica Delisle. Despite the expansion of personnel, the album is still very personal in lyrics and content—Arner drops his phone number on “Personal Line.” At Nite Owl, 213 10th Ave. S.W. Doors, 9 p.m. $10. niteowlyyc.com.
